Here’s a good way of looking at Jesus’ words from John 4:13. “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.”

dawkins-_648305a1Thanks for the good discussion last night. That’s actually what’s going to make this study worth while. Anyways, here’s my take on where I think you guys are at as a whole in understanding and applying these “using your head to guard your heart” discussions:

To put it bluntly, you’re stepping in it, but not quite smelling what you’re stepping in. That’s not a slam, it’s an encouragement to keep digging. Again, we’re not doing this to rail on anyone or anything secular. We’re doing it because everybody has a message and even if it’s not obvious from the words, pictures, or sound, it’s there!

My part is to research and apply my findings to the discussion…not take over the discussion (that’s what makes for a seemingly “leading” conversation).
Your part is to give me feedback and discussion on what you see right off the bat, as well as any new thoughts after I fill in the picture a little more with my research.

The whole point is this…media uses nice pictures, attractive things, etc. to reel you in. Most of the time it’s not going to appear unbiblical; if it did, they’d loose a big part of their audience.

Keep thinking and keep working at applying God’s word to every area of life. It’s hard and the path is narrow, but the end of it is life!

Since God through Christ has given us a new way to live, complete with new perspectives and thoughts on life, we ought to live in such a way that makes Him look like He really is our most treasured possession.

“A New Way To Live” is our theme for  the 2009-2010 school year. Media continues to be an “open-book” on the lives and times of our culture, so we’re going to continue viewing music videos, video clips, tv shows, etc. in order to both keep up on with things and to be culturally relavent.
